How am i getting the internet when i'm not connected?

Question

in the network and sharing i'm connected to the router but a cross sign appears between the router and the internet which indicate the router is not connected to the internet but still i'm able to browse.

Even in the network symbol doesn't hav the circle.

i use vista.

windows would have no idea if your router was or was not connected to your modem, it could probably only guess. Also since windows needs third party adapters and applications for wireless networking the operating system may not know what is going on.

Your wireless internet might is not managed by windows.  If your PC is acer, it has its own connection manager (Acer Empowerment).
