How am i supposed to clean the filter inside of a push mower????? please help!!?

well u see im trying to mow and it wouldnt work, so i took it apart and figured out that the filter was the problem(its dirty) ad you see the only thing is i dont know how to clean it........... please help

Are you talking about an air filter or a fuel filter? Someone else told you how to clean a air filter but dont clean a fuel filter with water...just get a new one. Never use gas to clean anything.

first you have to find the air filter.then take it of WARNING you have to put it together exactly the same so make sure you do that. take out the actual filter and then put a light under it if it shines through brightly its OK if not you need to lightly tap it up against something DO NOT HIT IT HARD it will damage it if you've done that and its still kind of dull light you buy a new one

p.s. if you dont want to do that just bring it to a shop and just have them check it over                  my dads a mechanic

The filter would have to be extremely dirty before the mower would not start.

WELL IF YOU GOT THIS FAR LETS GET YOU FINISHED AND BACK CUTTING THE YARD. JUST USE A GOOD DEGREASER,OR YOU CAN USE A SMAll amount OF GAS AND WASH IT OUT THEN RINSE IT OUT W/WATER AND DRY IT GOOD THEN AFTER ITS DRY SPRAY ALITTLE WD40 ONIT AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER, THAT SHOULD DO THE TRICK

If the filter is foam rubber, clean it with soap and water and squeeze it out. Apply a thin layer of oil on it and reinstall. If it is paper type, replace it.

This can be done by removing from the air cleaner, rinsing with gas, then mild soap and water then put a few drops of clean oil and work it into the foam and reinstall.
