  1. Try speaking in the third person... It should help a bit. Lets say there's someone named Chester.

"When Chester went to his lake cabin, the first thing he always did was run up to the lake and splashed the water on his face. This time however, something terrible happened, something really, truly awful. As he ran towards the dock, just as he reached the end, the dock started to shift, and before he knew what was happening, the dock FELL out from under him, he bumped his head, and then he blacked out.

Later that night, Chester woke up, shivering. He felt frost on the top of his head... no, it wasn't frost, it was an icepack. He was inside the cabin, wrapped up in a blanket, with his mother sitting in a rocking chair across the room..."

Just continue on like that. Pick something that interests you. I prefer to write about vacation spots when I write about myself just because it requires a bit more effort and makes it a bit more interesting. Sometimes, it's fun to hear about a place without actually going there, then you long to travel there one day.

  2. You do this all the time! Someone asks what's new, and you talk about something that happened to you over the summer or over the weekend. or you might get to talking about something that happened to you when you were a kid, like the first time you saw a rainbow or how you learned to ride a bike.

For class, just write it down, then put it into a neater format that - beginning, middle and end, with an intro and conclusion or punchline to tie it all together.

  3. Think about the experiences of your life - something scary, or fun, or a mystery you had to figure out, or a relationship that was important to you, or a sport you tried out for and did well at.  Pick one and tell about it.

  4. When I had to write about myself in school, sometimes I started it off like a fairytale, you know "once upon a time..." it just made it a lot easier to start.
