  1. The Maritime laws are quite differant from US Laws as they deal mostly with safety of the ships, rules, technical regs, etc This is why Shipping Corp's and Cruise Lines have a battery of attorneys


  2. I would have to say a little tougher, but then the international standards for cruise ships are getting higher and higher every year.

    The biggest problem the cruise industry has with the US is the large amounts of bureaucracy and some archaic unreasonable regulations... go and check out a thing called the Jones Act

    That bureaucracy is getting so bad some companies are pulling out of the US as a 'turnaround port' ie, getting passengers to join and leave the ship in canada or mexico
