  1. Action potentials will propagate, but much more slowly.


  2. without myelin sheaths, the channels open every little way down the axon.  if you have myelin sheaths then the channels open at each node of ranvier creating a sort of jumping action potential from node of ranvier to node of ranvier causing a faster transmission.
