Did it happen by chance? Who were the first reggae artistes to break through in Japan? What made them such a success?

Jamaica and Japan enjoy excellent diplomatic ties with frequent donations to the Jamaican people by the Japanese, various outreach projects and language and culture exchange programs.

  2. Jamaica and Japan have had a relationship ever since they established an embassy in Jamaica. There are lots of programs between JA & Japan to encourage inter-relations. Universities in Jamaica teach japanese and every year they give a scholarship for a Jamaican student to study in japan. Also japan sends people to Jamaica to teach in school while they learn to speak english( my phys ed. teacher was japanese  from japan for a year.).

Many Japanese are fascinated with Jamaican culture and music and they try to emulate it. there is a big following of reggae in Japan and impressively its more dancehall than it is Bob Marley, but Bob marley was the one who started it all.

They especially love the dances and make big careers out of reggae dancing.

  3. Reggae started in Japan because of Bob Marley. He was the first reggae artist to represent Jamaica in any overseas country. He is a great Jamaican and now they are thinking of making him a national hero.

  4. Long time Japan's love affair with Jamaican Reggae started that's been going on since the 1980's. Jamaica and Japan link up long time ! Japanese have been coming to Jamaica and taking the Jamaican music and bringing it back to Japan. Look at Dancehall queen Junko Kudo mash up the place ! Reggae is hot hot in Japan it's multi-million dollar industry in Japan but Japan don't have all the Reggae music so that's why they come to Jamaica. Jamaican Artiste starting to go to Japan. They just can't get enough !
