  1. Unfortunately having a green card as no bearing on this matter, as a Vietnamese citizen you will require a tourist visa to request entry into Germany. You can find all of the information, costs, application forms and procedures to obtain by clicking the link below.

In regards to your daughter, again it depends on her citizenship and if she is included on your passport, more details are really needed to better advise you are you can contact the Germany Embassy yourself using the link below.

As for a re-entry permit, this depends on how long you plan to stay outside of the United States. A re-entry permit is usually only for person(s) who plan to reside outside of the United States for a period of more than 12 months but I always advise people who are staying outside of the U.S. for any significant amount of time to file the I-131 anyway as there is no specific time limit for abandonment of residency to come into effect. The totality of the facts will always be considered in the case of abandonment, not just the time spent outside.

  2. the fact that you have a green card? does not put you in the category of an US citizen, you will have to ask for a visa to go to Germany,

your daughter? must have her own passport and a visa as well.....children are no longer allowed on their parent's passport,

here is the German embassy in the US, in the web page? you must pick the nearest consulate in your state, (residence),

before you leave the US? get in touch with the USCIS....

    http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-131ins...

look at bottom right of the page.

so that you may return to the US,

do not forget your green card while traveling, make a copy of passports, green card and keep separately,

wait? i did not pay attention to the fact that your daughter was born in the US, she will need her own US passport, but no visa for Germany,

US and Germany are in the visa waiver.

if you need more help? do come back here.....

  3. Apply for a Schengen visa in the German Embassy in USA to visit Germany.
