Please no insulting or rude answers. I will report any abuse. Thanks!!!

  1. There is a theory that there is a tenth planet in our solar system called Nibiru(check it on the net!). It has been suggested that its 3600 year solar orbit has been the cause of great floods and planetary disaster in the past. It is supposedly heading back into our solar system in the next two years...It is big and its passing through our solar system is expected to cause great gravitional stresses in the solar system(Earth included). It has been predicted to be visible and near earth in 2012(coincidence mayan date of demise!).

  2. It's most probably that the world will end when Christ will come, or probably by a meteor but there are different thoeries about it. You should check it out..!

  3. The earths demise will probably take decades with the earth atmosphere deteriorating slowly.

  4. when the sun goes supernova a few hundred millions years from now....although i suppose something could be said about religion..it doesnt really involve any planetary wide total destruction..more along the lines of sinners and non sinners...people ..not the planet. as for wars we have no technology now capable of utterly destroying an entire planet...we can poison it...radiate it...but we cant destroy it...look at ground zero in chernobyl or the bikini atolls where we did atomic testing...life is still flourishing there. maybe several thousand years down the road we can wipe out planets utterly...but thats more buck rogers fantasy than anything else...the dinosaurs got wiped out by a super asteroid that pretty much killed all mamallian life..however plants, fungi, and various smaller vegetarian mammal still survived...by ending the world your talking about the utter and total destruction of all forms of life...not just human...as long as the planet maintains its van allen belts to shield it from cosmic radiation and the atmosphere isnt completely blown away from the planet than we will always have some form of life...until the sun explodes

  5. The hardest questions sometimes have answers that nobody wants to hear.

Matter can neither be created or destroyed, the earth is matter and was here before humanity.  The earth will be here when we are all dead and gone.

The sun may supernova and absorb all the planets but the matter will still exist in another form.

The concept of eternal existance is fundamental to understanding that our significance in the grand scheme of the universe is nil.

  6. The World, or Earth?

The Earth will end when it collides with another object of great mass. There's almost 0 debate about that. Most likely the Sun.

I do not believe the end of Humans is the end of Earth. Furthermore, I do not believe either will happen with respect to the other. Either humans will see their end first or humans will have long since left the Earth by the time it meets its fate. Or quite possibly, humans will evolve into something else. Ofcourse it would be human-engineering of ourselves which causes the evolution, not nature. But either way, we may not be the same humans we are today, so are we talking about the human world?

I dont believe the end of the world will happen. Maybe the end of the world as we know it, but we've known it for such a short time.

While we'll surely see some serious disasters, I dont think humans are going anywhere soon. I believe our control over our world (which will likely one day expand beyond Earth) will outweigh any circumstance by which it could end.

Let me give an examplea and think in the big picture. What if we caused the oceans to rise by 100 feet in just a period of years? Millions, maybe a billion die. Maybe 2 billion die from the disease, war and after effects of  such a disaster. But our knowledge goes nowhere. We still have it all, and look what we can accomplish in a blink of time (the last 3000 years) with much more limited knowledge. Oceans rising by a 100feet doesnt even leave a dent. Bearly a scratch on the human world long term.

To answer the question: If humans did cease to exist, what is the most likely cause? It would be disease. War can only kill so many before there is a victor. A meteor or natural disaster could do it as well. But they are few and far between. One would have to happen very soon before our technology allows us to deal with it, or forecast and avoid it. I already explained a man-made natural disaster above. And most natural disasters of that proportion happen over much longer periods of time. Our numbers may be significantly reduced, but our knowledge would go nowhere, and thus we'd find a way to deal with it.

Disease would almost certainly be the main factor. And the interpretations for disease may change once we begin delving into superintelligent computers and bio-engineering. A disease simply replicates and destroys. Presumably the very last humans could die of natural changes in the environment.  But this would be because the significant loss of technology due to desimated populations from disease, rendering the last humans incapable of dealing with nature.
