I went to feed my 7 month old breakfast this morning and realized I bought cinnamon applesauce instead of plain. I gave to her and she LOVED it. Ive never seen her enjoy a meal quite so much.

We usually make all our own baby food so I'm wondering how and when to add spices and flavoring to her food? Id love to see her eat more things with this much enthusiasm!

  1. You may find this article from MSNBC helpful.  It seeks to debunk baby food myths and encourages parents to give their babies flavorful foods from the start of solids.  Basically, with very few caveats, your baby can eat what you eat.  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9646449/

  2. id be careful on salt and hot spices but cinnamon and stuff should be good...her stomach is a little developed so a lil spices shouldnt hurt

  3. I agree, herbs and spices are fine.  I would not do salt or sugar for awhile.

  4. Any time.  There is no reason infants can't eat seasonings. (You wouldn't want to give her habenero chili, and go easy on salt and sugar; but herbs and seasonings are great.)
