How and where can I get the most value for my 1995 BMW 530i?

I move to New York City recently and left my car behind in Washington DC so time is a bit a factor. But I would rather get max value than just get rid of it quickly. Has low miles (97,000) and in good condition. Considering carmax, craiglist or autotrader. Is the market value higher in New York or DC ?

  1. The value is probably going to be higher in D.C. In NY many peoples primary form of transportation is usually public transportation. Being that you have an older European modeled vehicle selling it is going to be tough. If possible try upstate New York which may be your best option.  Your blue-book in NY and in DC is $6,500 . When selling your car you will end up selling it for about $1000 - $2000 less than  blue-book from my personal experiences so to get it off your hands ask for $5000-$5500 and I assure you someone will make you an offer before July 4Th.

  2. Stay the h**l away from Carmax.  I dont care what anybody or there fiance tells you.  They will rip you off.  You will never get what you want from Carmax.  I work there so trust me.  Sell it on craigslist.  That way it is your terms.  NO CARMAX!!!!

  3. Hi

definitely list your car on here for free

    http://autoferret.net/selling.php?said=2...

your car will also be listed with Google cars, and it stays listed until it sells, you can also upload 20 photos, and they will match your car to a buyer in your area... all for FREE !

    Good Luck

  4. Car Max

i've used them-- trying to sell my car myself was a huge hassle.  My fiance works at carmax part time and we both have used carmax to sell back our cars and get new ones.

  5. craigslist...it works great for everything else i have to sale

  6. Ebay
