  1. TIJUANA OF COURSE

  2. Guadalajara has the largest AmeriKan Ex-pat community in Mexico.  It also has arguably the best weather in North America.

    You DO speak spanish, right?

  3. first of all you have to speak spanish and a safe place is aguascalientes and it is beuatiful in some places

  4. How: very well, the same comfort as in the USA, if you have the money.

Where: away from the border towns and the big cities (like Mexico city, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Toluca or Puebla), the best is the medium sized cities. The beachs can be too hot and too humid in summer, also there are more health risks. The best weather in México is over 1500 meters over sea level (1meter equal to 39.37 inches). More economic development is found in central-northern areas (avoid to live southern states, those are great for vacations not to live).

Some safe, comfortable, modern cities are:

1.- Aguascalientes (my prefered, you can fly from there to USA directly, without going to Mexico city, and its weather is meditarreaneum, very healthy)

2.- León (modern, but bigger than the first, so more crowded)

3.- San Miguel de Allende (this is a small town, beautiful, very "mexican", many americans living there).

4.- Chapala (It is a small city, near to Guadalajara. There are many americans living there)

5.- Mérida (in Yucatán penninsula, nice and clean, but TOO HOT).

  5. Don't pick a place based on a couple paragraphs by someone on Yahoo/Answers--do your own research.  There are dozens of books out there with helpful hints about moving to Mexico (see the link below).  But what's good for one person may not be good for you.  San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful town with many North Americanos,  but it may be too cold in January for you.  Puerto Vallarta is a lovely city, but it might be too hot in August for you.  Travel around and search out the town that's right for you.  And even if you fall in love with one town, you have to find the neighborhood that's right for you.  If your too close to the church, you'll hear the church bells ringing every fifteen minutes.  Does your neighbor have crowing roosters or barking dogs?  Fiestas can happen at the drop of a hat.  Do you like loud music and fireworks at 6AM?  Do you like scorpions?  What do you do if the neighborhood you like has plenty of them?

You can go down to Mexico on a tourist visa for 180 days (6 months).  Try out some different towns a see what you like.

  6. You can live almost anywhere in Mexico safely.  There is a lot of crime in border cities.  The rest of Mexico, is much like the U.S. in that there are cities with high crime areas, and areas with low crime.  I live in Mexico...from the crime reports I hear about the U.S.everyday with shootings in schools and Malls, I can see where people could get the impression that it is unsafe to live in the U.S.  In other words...it gets blown out of proportion.  There are thousands of us Americans lving safely all over Mexico.  Avoid the border and northern areas.  Then base your choice on whether you want to live where there are thousands of other gringos or only a few, an expensive area, or area with much lower prices, hot and humid, near the beach, or cool and pleasant in the mountains.

  7. Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico.

  8. I suggest you opt for Ajijic, Chapala,Joco in Jalisco. They are just an hour ago from Guadalajara in case you need a big city near by. These places are mostly bilingual, there are a lot of americans living there. They are kind of a small american town whith a touch of mexican country. There you will find everything you could think of, medical services in english spoken, finincial even real state, law services, restaurants anything. And most important, there are places that will help you buy a house, get resident and more. Don´t thik it twice, to live in Mexico it´s an excusite experience.
