  1. Contact your local water patrol.  They give the classes and issue the license.

  2. Oh you get it online.

No you don't need a test you jsut need a drivers liscence.

Thats atleast how it works in Canada. Go on the google search engine maybe

  3. try this link

  4. As mentioned before by mine and other people's post, if you live in the US, you must tell which state you live in for people to give you a direct answer on this question.

www.boat-ed.com covers most state's boater education requirements but not all.

So in short, if you want specifics, tell us which STATE you live in.

  5. Try going to your home state and clicking boating laws or checking with your home state Corps of Engineers.  I took mine online and received a card that gets me a discount with my boat insurance...

  6. I'm sure it depends on what state you are in.  For TN:

The Tennessee mandatory boating education law is similar to the driver’s license law.  You acquire the study materials, study, and then take an approved boating safety exam administered by an approved representative of the TWRA.

    The Law

Any Tennessee resident born after January 1, 1989 must show the TWRA-issued wallet Boating Safety Education Certificate as proof of successful completion of the TWRA Boating Safety exam.

No other certificate will be accepted as meeting the requirements of the law.

If there is an adult on board (at least 18 years old, and if born after 1/1/89 possesses the certification) that can take immediate control of the vessel, then this certificate is not required.

How do I take the exam?

First, you must be at least 11 years old to take the exam. After studying the boating safety material, you must first purchase, for $10.00, a Type 600 boating safety exam permit from any business (license agent) that sells hunting and fishing licenses (WalMart sporting goods, bait stores, marinas, etc.).

The receipt from this transaction is your "ticket" to take the exam. Try not to lose this receipt, it will admit you into an exam location and will also serve as a temporary certificate if you pass the exam.

If you do not pass the exam, this receipt/"ticket" can continue to be used to take the exam as many times as it takes to pass. Try not to lose it!

    How do I study?

There are many avenues to study:

You may call 615-837-6013 and have study materials sent to you (free) and self study.

You may log onto www.boat-ed.com/tn and study online.  There are practice tests on this site that are a great study tool to prepare for the exam.

Boating Safety Class:  There are many classroom classes offered throughout the state. See the map below for classes available in your area.

How do I find out where an exam or class is offered?

All exam locations and classroom locations and times are posted regularly. See the map below to find a class in your area.

    Out of State Boat Operators

If you were born after January 1, 1989, TWRA will accept any NASBLA approved boating safety certificate.

  7. You can get a certificate, not a license. Depending on what state you are in go onto BoatUS.com and you can get an online course accepted by your state. The US Coast Guard and some businesses it allows can issue a captains license after passing a test with other requirements.

  8. to get a boater's license you need to be 16 (I'm pretty sure) that is if your operating a motor boat or other watercraft with a motor. You might even need a drivers license. I know you have to go to a class and pass a test for water safety first, though.

  9. Call the department of motor vehicles. They should be able to help you.
