  1. To get a US passport within the US, you can usually go to a post office.  This website http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/ will show you locations where you can apply.  If you're going to New Zealand as a tourist for fewer than three months, you don't need a visa.  But you should verify this information yourself before you travel.

  2. try this web site

  3. Here is the actual link for how to get a US passport if you have never had one before:

    And, although New Zealand is a member of the US visa waiver, that is for New Zealand citizens traveling to the US, not the other way around.  Nevertheless, to visit New Zealand for up to 90 days as a tourist, you do not need a visa as long as you have a valid passport, a return ticket, and sufficient funds to support yourself for the time you expect to stay.  Look here, under "entry/exit requirements."

    If you realize that you do need a visa anyway - because you will stay longer than 90 days, will study, whatever, look here for how to apply:

  4. you can get an application at any large post office, the link above is good, but you do NOT need a visa if you are an US citizen, which you must be since you ask for a passport, here is a list of visa waiver countries, New Zealand is in it;
