How and where to buy and reserve Nozomi Shinkansen seats from Osaka to Tokyo?

Question

We will be joining a tour group in Japan in October. The tour starts in Tokyo and ends in Osaka on October 11, of which we have to go back to Narita to catch an 1800 flight. How can I buy the Nozomi Shinkansen tickets? Can I reserve them here while I am in the U.S.? Or, can I buy and reserve the ticket as soon as we arrive in Tokyo? Help....

BEFORE worrying about how to reserve Nozomi seats, You must worry what time you have to leave Osaka to be on time 1800 flight leaving from Narita.

It must be latest 1100 or earlier departure at Shin-Osaka station necessary for the flight I definitely advise. You know that? It takes about 4hours from Shin-Osaka to Narita with good timing connection and Air flight company requires you check in 3 hours prior to departure at Narita.

Then you can buy and reserve the ticket since 1 month before at Midori no Madoguchi anywhere JR station even in Tokyo available. You'd better buy and reserve Narita express to Narita airport on same day together one time too.

Check out your local Japan Rail Travel in your country for the Japan Rail Pass tourists can buy. You can get them for a week or more, and cannot buy them in Japan but they give you unlimited travel from when you start using them.They are much cheaper than Japanese people can buy in their country.You will need your passport, and do need to verify them at Shinjuku station ( probably other stations too - Japan Rail should be able to tell you that), when you are in Tokyo.You can reserve seats on the shinkansen at the station , to ensure you have a seat.

For the train ticket, you can easily buy it in the JR station counter in Osaka (the counter should be very obvious) and the train leaves frequently, so no need to worry about reserving them in far advance time, Japan rail system is the best in the world

And once you get into Tokyo station, you can change to the airport train, there are many to choose from: Narita Express, and 2 private line, just ask the counter if you are lost in the station, they should be very helpful for visitors

PS: Are you only going to take 1line from Osaka to Tokyo right? If you are going to take two trips of the Nozomi, i suggest you buy the 7day rail pass (cheaper) for Yen 28,300 (however you must purchase it before you arrive in Japan)

Shinkansen tickets are available at Midori no Madoguchi (Green Counter) at every Shinkansen station.

You go to Shin-Osaka station and its Midori no Madoguchi to buy tickets.
