  1. local pub, theres a few old men who wouldnt mind some female companionship.

  2. hi there have you looked in yahoo groups,i am thinking of joining one myself,i hope you find what your looking for,peAce.http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/

  3. check out student venues also free gigs

  4. Hampstead is the arty area, rather upmarket but people travel there from all over to have a drink and a chat. Just around the corner from Hampstead tube on the Northern Line is a pedestrian road called Flask Walk with an old pub called The Flask. try going there and staying for a couple of hours sitting at the bar, afternoons or early evening. You'll like it and on your second or third visit you'll be adopted by the many regulars, all friendly, intelligent and open. First off go on Saturday at lunchtime. And smile.

  5. How about joining some clubs, i.e. sports club or an evening class in your local area. Good places to look for these clubs are the local hall, schools etc. There are also websites that you can join and then go and meet people. Try doing a search in Google/Yahoo.
