like every one else has already said (but what the hay i still get 2 points for this) its all to do with Adrenalin horror movie can out you in an extreme situation yet you still have the knowledge that you can't be harmed

remember being a baby and being thrown up in air and then caught? its kind of Oh Jesus I'm scared and then ah what a relief. We  can safely view terror in the comfort of our own homes with out being killed. We are also processing past lives. We have lived through alot of different life situations and we have set up scary things to live through, so that we learn about death/life/soul/eternity etc

For myself the same reson i drive fast and enjoy fast rides.

Putting yourself in the 'flight or fight' predicament, everything feels more real when there is an edge of danger or excitement. Sadly today there is no time for suspence, horrer has turned to gore; and thats getting pretty boring pretty quickly.
