  1. I have a question....why is this in anthropology? :)

  2. The American Eskimo is a very affectionate and loving dog. Very playful and they are excellent with children. Highly intelligent and easy to train.  They do love to bark and are wary of strangers.  They are easy to groom and should be brushed about twice a week.  They also can live to be 15 years of age.

  3. If you are talking about the little white American Eskimo dogs that look like miniature spitzes; they are fine.  My parents had one named Frosty for years and years, but they are feisty and territorial, at least Frosty was.

As the years passed he got increasingly crotchety, but if I had to live with my parents I would, too.  He liked to lay under the kitchen table when everyone was sitting there drinking coffee and talking, but he didn't like feet close to him and once I crossed my feet and apparently startled him and he bit the top of my foot.  It was totally my fault and I should have been more conscious of his location.  It only bled a little, really just a scratch.

I would hesitate to recommend them to be around small children, although in honesty Frosty never did anything to mine.  Of course, mine learned by the time they were two to respect an animal's space and realized if they were scratched or bitten they would be blamed and punished, not the animal.
