Expats! I'm moving to Mexico (to live) tomorrow and I just wanted to know how the immigration debate stateside has influenced the reaction of Mexican folks over there. Are they taking it out on you? Are they the same?

  1. I suppose it depends on where you are.  I am an American living in the state of Veracruz.  There are few gringos here.  I , and my friends too, are very well-treated.  I have great Mexican friends.  Most feel that illegal immigation is wrong, some are more sympathtic to desperate people, some condem them.  many don't like the U.S, gov't, but then they don't like ANY gov't because there is so much corruption in the gov't here.  I have never been mistreated in any way by a Mexican for any immigration or political reason.  One needs to be courteous and tactful, as with anyone.  I don't think it would ever be right for an American to shoot off his mouth and be strongly opinionated about political issues.
