I'm going to study abroad for the Summer of 2009 for a Fashion Internship I'm thinking about going to London, Paris, Milan, or maybe even Tokyo. I don't want any racial problems/racist idealogies to be happening where ever I go..I know that I will never go to Russia, they beat up Black people/other non-white people on the streets in their country and they have one of the largest Neo-n**i populations. Ironically, the creator of Nazism, Hitler hated Russians and thought they were inferior also.

  1. I remember a movie called Paris Je t'Aime & there was a part of the movie that had a poor black man who got beat up. He was African I think. I felt so bad. It's just a movie though, but idk.

  2. i hear that its getting worse for blacks in europe. tons of black immigrants are flooding europe and have increasingly become the victims of hate crimes. you would be fine in france and the uk, but certain other places are horrible, or so i've heard.

  3. depends really....some countries really enjoy African Americans for what they did during WWII

  4. In my area black people run everything.

Spain is the only racist place where you may get an idiot come up to you  and say suttin racist otherwise everywhere is kool what I know of cause I aint left the UK before. Russia I dont really count that as Europe yeah I know its in this continent but most of it is in Asia and I very far away.

Black America- What are you talking about Black Americans only exotic feature is their accent otherwise they aint different from and what do you mean kiss white ***? cause if you think we do I dont think you have visited London. Well if you were being treated special you must of been kissing some white asss lol cause I couldnt care less how im treated by another. We do have infrastructure here and most of us are British but we do have a large number of African immigrants recently

Im sorry to say that we are probly treated more better than black people in the US

  5. you'll be abs fine in london. nobody will even notice you. you will be blend right in.

why does black american bk w/ a vengeance talk out his @ss? stop writing things you have no clue about as if they were facts.

we have a black american in my workplace and nobody pays him any mind. he has his mates but nobody thinks he's special or 'exotic' lol because of his nationality. and he's certainly not treated any better than me or my fellow black britons. your other comments are just too moronic for me to even bother to comment on. i doubt you've been anywhere near London, and if you have, then you have learnt absolutely nothing haven't you?

  6. I am assuming you are American so based on my experience you shouldn't have any problems no matter which city you decide to visit.  I would say that you have the least chance of having a negative encounter in Japan.  Honor is everything to the Japanese and they would not want to offend you and lose face by being racist.

  7. Western Europe is fine, especially France & the UK. England, France, & Italy are all pretty diverse.

There'd be no problems in Tokyo, either. My dad (who was stationed in Japan) said that most Japanese are open to blacks.

  8. im a black female too and I've heard paris is okay as long as youre not an african immigrant. and i agree japan should be pretty safe, theyre just curious about your looks. i watched those videos and they made me feel sick, was even crying. and also im interested in fashion, are you going through a school program or what? i would love to have the info for something i could do in the future. thanks

  9. It used to be a lot better than here in other places in the world.  In the 1950's - 1960's some blacks moved to Europe and Africa to get away from the racism of the US.

I know it's fine in China because I went there (I'm white) and my husband was black and they had no problem with that.  We were Americans.

  10. I live in London and I am Mixed Race, I've never experienced any racism.

I've never been treated differently because of my skin colour. I reckon London has better racial tolerance than anywhere in the US. Sure there are racists but we don't have groups of Neo-n**i Militia running the streets and beating up the non-Aryans.

My best friend is from Russia and I asked if I could go with her next year but she said I would have to prepare myself for some funny looks and racial slurs.

In Paris I was called "a dirty arab" (I'm not arabic) by a group of young men and one spat at my black friend. I think racial tension is quite bad there. But that was only one incident in 2 weeks I stayed there (it was 2am and we were lost it was very scary).

  11. I've been to London, Paris, and Rome two years ago (relatively close to Milan) and I didn't encounter any obvious racism. I'm a little light skinned since I'm biracial, but I was with an aunt who's pretty dark and nothing really happened. I think you'll be okay there. I have noooo idea about Tokyo though. I had this this teacher once who insisted when he went to Japan he was the only black person ANYWHERE and all the Japanese people wanted to like...touch his skin and stuff. But I have no idea he coulda been lying to make us laugh.

  12. Paris is brilliantly diverse. You can't go wrong there. The Netherlands is also very open and friendly.

  13. Hun, no matter where you go in this world, as long as you are black there will be people that dislike you

just remember that not all people are like this.....so wherever your heart leads you to.....go there!!!.......you'll meet more good than bad

  14. Black Americans are considered exotic so you tend to get treated better than local blacks (who are mostly africans and carribiean)...There is also no "black infrastructure" in Europe like the U.S. Racism is less, but its at the expense of any kind of black identity. Most blacks are conditioned to kiss white ***..

Parts of London are very diverse and has lots of blacks..

  15. I'm not black, but some of my closes friends were black when I lived in Italy, and I remember having this conversation with them. We asked them if they were treated bad and they said no, they had not faced any racial problems over there. ( We were Military and lived off base and had a lot of American black neighbors that lived in our area as well. ) And I saw a lot of black people while visiting London and Paris....I assume they were treated well:)

And just for the record, it wasn't long ago that I lived there, so it's not as if it's changed! I lived there from 2004 until earlier this year.

  16. I agree with karel

  17. In Europe blacks are treated with linseed oil to keep them fresh. In other countries they are either treated with oil or a lemon lime blend.
