  1. I think that the answer to your question is that a Canadian wedding is probably between two people from Canada, while an American wedding involves two people from the US.  Also, it is colder in Canada, so the clothes you wear might be different.  That is what I know about the dfifference between Canada and the US.   Oh, and in some parts of Canada, the wedding might be in French.

  2. I'm in Western Canada, central Saskatchewan - province just east of last answerer.

I don't think there are differences, per se. It's more about what happens in which region (like regional differences in the US between the mid-west and NY or CA) which may be different, mostly because of cultural things.

There is just such big ethnic diversity across Canada, so I think that's where most differences are seen.

For example, in some provinces there are literally fundraisers held for the couples' wedding. Where I'm from, that would definitely not be done! But where they do them, it's tradition, and people are happy to help out in that way. Plus, from what I've heard, they have loads of fun!

On the whole, most of the weddings I've been to have been ethnic weddings, and basically follow the same basic outline as any traditional wedding - ceremony in the early afternoon, dinner around six, dancing all night - with of course, variations along the way for other traditions.

For us, we had a very traditional Ukrainian wedding - and you could go from British Columbia to Ontario, and it would be almost the same - just as from NY to Ohio to Washington. We tend to be a traditional lot!

  3. They actually don't get married in Canada. The government won't allow it. They are choose at birth on whom they will spend there life with. That is what happens when you are part of a communist country like Canada.

  4. no difference, pastor or justice etc..

  5. There is no difference in weddings between Canada and the United States.  Except g*y weddings are legal throughout Canada.

  6. I'm a Canadian (from Alberta) married to an American (now living in Florida) and have been to weddings in both countries.  I worked as a cake decorator in a bakery for 3 years before I got married, so I made wedding cakes for my roommates and nieces and have made wedding cakes for my friends here, so I see a lot of weddings and I haven't noticed any real differences.

  7. the one thing I discovered is the prep is alot different.  I mentioned a stag and doe on here and got reemed for being tacky.  In Canada stag and does are common. bridal parties or families throw them as a way to get some cash for the bride and groom.  It is so common place that most people ask when that is before they even ask the date of the wedding.  it's a great time to relax and have fun, drink a bit play some games.  People love throwing their money away at them because they know it's going to the bride and groom (even people who don't know who the bride and groom are have started to attend these things).  I've seen people make upwards of $4000 in one night at a stag and doe. They are great. yet anytime I mention it all the americans call me tacky for having a fundraiser for my wedding and tell me not tog et married if I need to do this to make money. lol. Ah well. American's are missing out on the fun! lol

I've also noticed something called a groom's cake. Never heard of this in Canada before but apparently they are quite big in the US
