Question:

How are Draws picked? Why is one side harder than the other?

All the heavy hitters are on Roger's side of the draw. Canas, Djoko, Ferrer, Gasquet, Ljubicic, Nalbandian. Then on the other side, you have Roddick-who sux on clay, Tsonga, who is questionable on clay (he likes fast surfaces), Moya maybe. I mean, come on... why is it so lopsided?

  1. The draw is all random. As the name suggests the players are drawn randomly to see where they fall in the draw.

Sometimes it seems you get the luck of the draw but nothing comes easy once play starts.

All the players have the same objective to win.

  2. all top 8 seeded players are spread evenly... then the others... will be picked randomly...

  3. Someone already said that the top seeds are spread out and given byes. The rest are random and have to fight it out. Sometimes Andy Roddick gets a really tough run, but still makes it up pretty high.

It is true that Nadal's run will be easier, but you never know what can happen. Someone might just be playing at their peak, and knock him out. I know... no one can picture that! LOL

  4. draws are based on the ranking

  5. Looks equal 2 me..

  6. Its not lopsided its balanced out equally.

  7. Roger will be do fine against Canas, Djoko, Gasquet, Ljubicic and Nalby. Ferrer can give him some problems, as is obvious from the way he played Rafa today in the second set. In the end, it will come down to Roger- Rafa final, and that is where Roger needs to do the thinking. Roger will gain a lot of points, if he makes to the finals at Rome, because he lost in the first round last year. I am sure he has everything to gain from this tournament and nothing to lose.  If he performs good at Rome and at Hamburg, he will be very much in contention for the French Open. Go Rogi !

  8. Seed are spread out equally... the rest are  being draw by lottery... it is not unbalanced ... you are just paranoid..since every player has a forte.

  9. Djoko, Canas and Nalby have defeated fed, so I can understand your concern that they are in his draw. But, Ferrer, Gasquet (yes I know even he has defeated fed once) and Ljubicic....doesn't he have them for breakfast?

For you and me it's players but the draws are decided based on seedings so for ur fed bad luck if these people had numbers that landed them on his side. And, btw Canas is also not all that great, atleast Nadal and Djoko have an easy time against him. And, last time he played Fed, he lost 6-0, 6-3 so why worry??

Djoko and Nalby...1 (hopefully not both) will go out before the semi's. And, you forgot there's davy also in Nadal's draw... he has his periods against Fed but against others he's fine.

  10. There's a random factor in how the draws are distributed.  One side / quarter / whatever will almost always look stronger than the others, and another will look weaker.

The players know this and accept it; you really can't avoid this.

  11. Djoko is not that good on clay! In a way, its good for Roger as it will giv him practice! Except the RG, i pray that Nadal shud be given dead-easy draws in the claycourt tourneys! That will make it tough for him at RG!

  12. Look on the bright side Nina. If Nadal has too many tough matches, he's going to drop one tournament and rest. Federer fans want Nadal to keep playing until he burns himself out. And hopefully that will happen in time for the French Open.

  13. the try to balance it out depending on skills.

thats why Nadal and federer only play each other in the finals

  14. The top seed is normally in the top half while the second is in the bottom half for the statistical possibility that they meet in the finals and not in any other round during the tournament. All the other seeds in between are distributed randomly according to their seedings
