  1. they are interreated in the minds of the ignorant. politics either have no effect on ecconomics or a negative effect. they create distortions. they mostly inhibit equilibrium.

  2. Economics as a school of thought is not politically influenced.  Economists look at numbers and data to define trends or develop laws and theories to explain how humans interact with commerce.

In the real world, politicians use economics to further their political agenda.  Such things as limited free trade and protectionist policies are given as a solution to economic problems, when, in fact, free trade benefits the consumer always.  Tariffs on goods are often retaliated against and higher prices always ensue.

Hope that gives you a push.. email me if you have anymore questions.  There are many more things in the political arena.

  3. Briefly stated, "politics" can now be considered (this is not the original root meaning) as "the attainment, exercise, and maintenance of power." Thus we can speak of constitutional, gender-,economic-,generational-, civil- and other forms of politics. Some may be altruistic, some cynical, some idealistic, and so forth. The one thing they all have in common is some sort of asymmetry of power, and economic politics may be the most conspicuous example--just look at what tax cuts have brought us since 1976.
