How are Thermal Imaging cameras made?

Hi everyone. I'm quite fascinated with thermal imaging and I've searched online searching for how thermal imaging works, and how thermal imaging cameras are made, but I've found nothing. Does anyone have experience with thermal imaging and can tell me how this works
