  1. I don't know if you can retrieve the hearings about the Florida and Michigan votes not being counted.

This hearing reveals who appears to be paid off.

Testimony was given by Bill Nelson of Florida that the US government and republican Governor Charlie Christ set the voting date in violation of democratic rules.  Why would the 3 panel judges decided to penalize the candidates and voters?

The only logical assumption is they have been bribed to side against democratic candidates and voters.

The revelation state after state of the electoral college voted opposite the popular vote.  Is far from democratic.

Michigan testified they have petitioned the democratic party to be given a more influential stand in the decision of presidential candidate and have been repeatedly denied.

What is democratic about allowing 5 states the right to decide who will be on the ballot.

  2. I do not believe that they are. It is the right of the party to chose their candidate. Both parties try to facilitate a process by which a candidate who holds the values of said party becomes the nominee.

  3. First off, you must remember that the United States is not now, nor has it ever been, a democracy. It was set up as a Republican (Representative) type of government, wherein we choose people to represent us.

Even in this day of computers, a democracy would not work; do you really think you could get the adult part of more than 300 million people to vote on anything? Most won't even vote for a President.

So, to answer your question, (1) a few candidates are chosen...by Whom? Certainly not the people.

    (2) These candidates run against each other; again, it is not the people who decide who wins the candidacy.

    (3) Finally, there is an election; again, popular vote (popular comes from the Latin; it has nothing do do with being the favorite, but has to do with POPULACE, or number of people) does not determine the outcome. President Clinton was a "minority President" during both of his reigns! And they holler about George Bush!

It is the so-called "electoral college" that decides the Presidency, except for rare instances, such as George Bush, when the Democratic party closed the polls in Florida, even though Pensacola (with lots of active and retired military persons live, who usually vote Republican) HAD NOT yet finished voting. The Democrats called foul, even though they are the ones who "fouled".   In this instance, the Supreme Court awarded the Presidency to Bush.

Hopefully this will help you. You might also type in such phrases as "minority president", "electoral college", "how candidates are selected to run for the presidency", etc.

Oh, yes. One more "contradictory to democratic values": the most obvious that people don't even think about it: (4) only the filthy rich get to be candidates in the first place, hence are NOT representative of the populace as a whole.

  4. They let the people be involved in the election.
