for instance, if the divedend on the tote website is shown as £50.00 for a meeting - i understand that this relates to a £1.00 stake. My Question is this really, I use a perm of 36 bets which i bet at £0.25p each giving a total stake of £10.80 does this mean my stake in relation to the return of the divedend is actually:

A. 25p (i.e. a 1/4 share of dividend - in this case £12.50)

B. £10.80 giving a 1080% of the dividend in this case £540

C. None of the above you idiot its actually this........

Thank You

  1. C. None of the above, though I wouldn't call you an idiot. The reason is this - you have 25 pence on each "line" of the placepot which comes up. Presumably, as you have 36 bets, you will have selected more than one horse in each race. If two of your horses are placed in one race, you would have 2 'lines' of your placepot (providing you had at least one place in every leg).

    For each winning line, you would have 25pence, or a quarter of the winning dividend.

    If you had the following:

    Leg 1 - 1 horse placed;

    Leg 2 - 2 horses placed;

    Leg 3 - 1 horse placed;

    Leg 4 - 1 horse placeced;

    Leg 5 - 2 horses placed; and

    Leg 6 - 3 horses Placed (unlikely I know!)

    You would have a total of 12 'lines' up. That is to say, 12 of your 36 25p bets are winners (the ones with the other horses in them which didn't place have lost).

    In which case, you would get £150 return for the £50 dividend - 12 X the 12.50 payout for each 25p winning 'line'.

    If you only succeeded on one line, you are correct, you would receive 25 pence.

    Hope this helps.
