i am just curious to find out how big bets are placed as most on course bookmakers only have liabilities of up to £1000 and i heard that if i walked in to a high street bookmaker and wanted to place a bet of £1000 the shop manager would need to check with area manager to see if it was ok

big bets only count when they WIN!!!!!!!

  2. I had the same problem once, so what idid was to go to three different bookmakers ..Hills,Ladbrokes,Corals ( off course)..i placed £500 with each & the price of the horse dropped in 30 minutes.. i`d took the price so i thought "sod them",  anyway my bet came second (lost) @ 7/2 backed from 8`s( within 30 mins)..anyway i took them for 10k a few weeks later, you cant beat the bookies they always win.. but you can have fun trying.

  3. It is just a question of asking the bookie.  Some will take big bets, others wont.  I've seen people placing bets of several thousand pounds before.
