Seriously. How are black people viewed in Chinese culture? Why do people BASE everything on NEGATIVE STEREOTYPES AND NEGATIVE MEDIA IMAGES?

Why don't people do some research and meet some blacks and make friends with them and stop GENERALIZING?

I tried talking to some Asian people and they sound very RACIST. "Oh they aren't compatible", "black skin," etc.

No one said anything about skin color.

I'm not just African-Americans, I'm talking about black Africans.

What if a black person went to visit Asia, was cultured and refined and learned and knew some stuff about Asian culture and what's acceptable in Asian culture and wanted to date Asian women? Women wouldn't be interested in him?

  1. Okay, do you mean Chinese or Asian. Most Chinese don't like Blacks(not born in America). My dad is half chinese and black and his Chinese side of the family would make fun of him and call him "black devil." But Koreans, are more accepting because the cater to the black hair industry. Also remember Asian includes Chinese, Japanesse, Indian, Korean.

  2. yup its strange when i saw some chinese girl dating a black man. really strange. i keep thinking what makes this girl accepted to be that black guy's girlfriend.

but then, if the black guy looks nice, looks like a kind person, its ok for me, no problem.

if you admit, that you are not on your soil, you show some respect to the locals. Then everything else will be ok.

  3. The Chinese seemed to love the Black American athletes during the Beijing Olympics, especially Kobe Bryant.  They may not hate us as much as people realize.

  4. They don't like Blacks from what I observed.

  5. I believe the person behind the " Miss Chang" avatar is a male and a non-chinese.

In china,  the degree of children respecting their parents are even more than  us who live in the usa. In the most recent generation, children in china are the only child in the family ( the 1 child policy in china to prevent over population ) parents are even more concerned about the issue of  pure blooded line.

Chinese parents usually are very dedicated parents working very hard for the future of the children, especially for the sons,  its very hard for us to rebel against parents as much as American children do.

It doesnt look very optimistic for black marrying chinese people in china.  There may have some individual cases black/chinese couples found in china, but I am sure very very limited.

I also found that many black guys are nice looking, especially those well educated, soft spoken, polite black guys can easily steal our hearts, but, we have to consider the family issues in reality, so many of us don't want to take any risk to upset our parents.

  6. A Chinese girls family would be shamed if she was seen with a black. It's not good.

  7. Well, you can't generalize and say that ALL asians/chinese would be ashamed of blacks.  Unfortunately, I believe there's a long tradition of preferring lighter skin in Asia, which could be driving some of these negative stereotypes. Even other asians with darker skin are seen as being less desirable (just look up the ponds "flawless white" ads, it's revolting).

In addition, many chinese might never see an actual black person (how are you going to meet blacks and make friends with them if there aren't any in the area?), and so they don't know anything about them except that they 1) look very different and 2) are generally portrayed in the media as athletes, criminals, or rappers.

Since there's less exposure to different races, it also will take some time for standards of beauty to change and include different looks. They might be more accepting of white standards of beauty because there's more exposure to it (due to military occupation and more white-dominated media).

I believe there would be some women still interested in dating your cultured/refined black man, but it would depend on the area.  If he went to a really rural area, I imagine he would be viewed as a curiosity. If he were in one of the bigger, more multicultural cities, I think he would have some difficulty, but he would be able to find more open-minded women.

As for asian-americans who still hold these negative beliefs, some of them might be first/second generation immigrants who thus are still a bit closer to the beliefs of their native country/parents. I mean, there are still negative media portrayals and racists (of all races), so it would depend on the individual and which area they lived in.

  8. They are very afraid of black people, they fear us. hahahaha, they don't have to be afraid of the many nice ones in a nice area but they are not culturally evolved or educated yet, what a shame. edit- I'm sure that not allof them are like this, but most are.
