I mean, I know they look different (obviously), but besides that, how are they different from one another?

  1. ...one is a cat...and the other is a dog...

  2. There are many differences between canines and felines. Felines have retractable claws (though those of the cheetah are only partially retractile), whilst canines' claws are permanently extended and therefore blunt from constant contact with the ground. Felids' claws are kept sharp by being protected inside the paw, thus making them more effective for hunting and climbing. Their wrists and ankles also have a wider range of movement.

Felids have a shortened face and reduced number of teeth (usually 30 as opposed to the 42 of most canids), and a shorter digestive system adapted to a diet of pure meat. Canids have a longer digestive system which is better able to cope with a degree of vegetable matter in the diet (most canid species are somewhat omnivorous - felids are exclusively carnivorous).

Most canids are very social, whereas felids are largely solitary (with the exception of lions). Felids kill their prey with a suffocating bite to the throat, whilst canids generally kill large prey by disembowelling it. Felids are ambush predators, creeping up on their prey and catching it by surprise. They are sprinters rather than long-distance runners. Canids are the reverse - long-distance runners rather than sprinters. Most canids catch their prey by running it down with superior stamina.

All felids have backward-facing spines on the p***s, which cause pain to the female when the p***s is withdrawn from the v****a - this serves to stimulate ovulation in the female. Among canids, the base of the p***s (called the knot) swells during mating, locking the pair together in a coital tie, allowing the male's sperm more time to reach the female's eggs.

  3. When you take care of them, cats think they must be God, while dogs think you must be God.

  7. I'm sure it's just slight differences..to mean dogs are stronger (heavier bone structure)ever notice how easy you can pick up a kitten compared to a puppy....Penguins is right..They're basically just different species...kind of like comparinig a wolf to a fox or a snake to a lizard

  11. Cats have fewer teeth and less powerful jaws, which is why dogs have bigger muzzles. as the dogs muzzle is longer, this allows them to develope a greater sence of smell. Dogs teeth are more adapted to crushing, whereas cats teeth are not so strong. cats have also got lighter bones, enabling them to climb and move in a much more agile manner. they are much more flexibel then dogs.

Cats eyes are also better at collecting light making them able to see in the dark better, if you look at their eyes cats pupils are slitted whereas dogs puples are round.

Cats also have retractable claws, allowing them to climb and hunt, dogs claws are better suited for digging.

There many many differences between cats and dogs, these are just a few of them.
