If a map indicates a distance between cities, what points are used for that measurement. Is there a central point determined for each city? For instance, if it states that the distance between City A and City B is 200 miles, is that border to border or to the center of each city?

  1. Usually City distances are measured from City point to another City Point. The city area (Polygon) is not taken into account. If I ask you to put a dot on a map where your city is (it is usually the downtown area) and the same for the other city. so measuring from point 1 to point 2 is listed as the distance.

  2. It's to the center of each, using main roads.
