Question:

How are eye floaters caused and how do i get rid of/lessen them?

my eye doctor said there is no way to rid of them; however i find them really annoying. there must be a way!

  1. The vitreous gel in the main chamber of the eye being less than even causes floaters.  It is more common in shortsighted people, and tends to occur anyway as a normal consequence of increasing age.

    Any sudden fresh crop of floatesr needs to be checked out, because while 98% of cases of new floaters are harmless, 2% are an early indicator of a retinal detachment.

    No, there is no useful treatment for normal floaters (I'm not sure why you think there must be a way...)  

    With very severe floaters, such as can result from  a haemorrhage into the vitreous, a vitrectomy can be performed, removing the gel in part or competely, but since this has the ability to *produce* floaters as a side effect, and also carries the potential for retinal detachment and macular oedema as rare but possible adverse reactions, it's far from being a cure for normal floaters.
