Golf tees are usually manufactured from birch logs which are debarked, run through slitters which make wooden sticks about 5/8th of an inch square. These are now run on wood lathes through the center of the gripping spindle, shaped into the size of the golf tee, pointed and simultaneously cut to length. These are then tumbled with a sawdust media to shine them. There are some which go on to painting, others are varnished. They are eventually packed in bulk for the golf shops or packaged for the retail trade.
