Do homes still have "lightening rods"? We are asking because we would like to reassure several very frightened kids.

  1. Homes don't usually get built with lightning rods, unless they are very large in size or in a storm prone area. You will know if you have a lightning rod by looking at the roof. Lightning strikes at water and  pointed objects like trees, people ect. If your house is a flat roof you lessen the chance of getting struck. I have not heard of many cases of houses getting hit. It doesn't mean that it can't happen though. You can never tell with mother nature.
