How are hummers hurting our planet?

I am a total environmentalist. I hate hummers and cars that let out too much gases or what ever it is, but i just don't see exactly how they are hurting our environment.

They put out large amounts of CO2, CO and other harmful gases into the atmosphere.  This, in turn, causes the planet's temperature to slowly rise which disrupts animal habitats among other things.  It will eventually melt the ice caps flooding coastal regions.  This will also disrupt the Atlantic current which brings warm water from the equator to the poles and back cooling to down.  This will then cause an ice age.
