  1. infiltration recharges the groundwater supply

the infiltration rate is what keeps streams and rivers flowing all year long by slowly recharging the aquifer

infiltration can also be a filtering of dissolving process. The water moving through the medium can be filtered, but the water also dissolves minerals in the medium

typically the medium filters out organics, which is how septic drainfields work

infiltration will also dissolve minerals in the medium and add this to the groundwater. Minerals such as arsenic break down and become water soluable and show up in groundwater

  2. Well ,all ground water are not containmented,if filtration is need after analysis the water chemical composition and parameter of resulted water dosent meet the criteria then we might need some filtration or chemical treatment.
