There is a Vietnamese restaurant called Pho 999 about 5 minutes from where I work. I've been there several times and enjoy the food. ☺ I order a dish with noodles, pork and shrimp.

Not sure I understand that question, but I have a Vietnamese foster aunt & uncle (let's just say they're my family), they are very sweet and my aunt makes the best egg rolls and wan tan soup ever!

Vietnamese food is very good.  The Vietnamese are known to eat most everything in various styles and combinations.  Of course, a meal always contains rice ("com").  Fish sauce ("nuoc mam") is also always present.  But then the meats can very from beef, pork and chicken to more exotic types (snake, turtle, and yes, even dog).  Still, it is not to be feared.  Many noodle dishes exist, very pleasant tasting and nothing scary.

IMO the best place in Vietnam to try food is Hoi An.  You can get tasty "white rose" dumplings (pork and chicken inside), cao lau (noodles with pork - specially made with well water from Hoi An) and great won tons.
