How are late career starters viewed by Europeans ?

  1. I think it's normal for people to start a little later in Europe. Then again, it depends how many years "late" you mean.

    Take Germans, for instance. First of all, High school lasts an extra year. Second, a lot of people take a year off for travel. And lastly, men in Germany have to do a year in the military or a year of community service before they go to university. Plus it's very common to hear about people in their mid twenties who are still waiting to even get a spot at a university to study the subject they want to study.

    I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but in Germany it isn't unheard of that someone doesn't start their career until they're in their 30's.
