  1. Mary Boleyn married twice. Her son Henry, possibly the son of Henry VIII - he certainly looked it! - was a devoted cousin to Elizabeth I, and Mary's daughter Katharine became the mother of Lettice Knollys, Elizabeth's rival for the Earl of Leicester. Both these lines had issue, and in the maelstrom of family relationships that is the British aristocracy, Diana was descended from several families that had Carey or Knollys blood.

The book may well be right, I haven't seen it, but genealogy books often relate only the descent from males. Given the network of marriages amongst the wealthy in England, Diana's family was interrelated with almost everyone at some point.

My notes above are only a summary!

  2. According to wikipedia,she is.

And according to a genealogist, who has written a book about Diana's ancestry,"The Ancestry of Diana, Princess of Wales, for Twelve Generations," by Atlanta-based genealogist Richard Evans, she is.According to Evans, the the Princess is the direct descendant of all three of the aunts of Queen Elizabeth I. She directly descends from both paternal aunts, who were the queens of Scotland and France, as well as from Anne Boleyn's sister Lady Mary Carey.

Whether this is accurate,I don't know.
