Men tend to fall alot harder and alot faster, and seem to take things WAY to personal when told things just aren't working out...In my experience it is harder for me to fall than it is for the man.

There is no difference.  Both need a spiritual connection that will last into old age.  If that spiritual connection is not there, then the individuals in the marriage arrangement will find a spiritual connection with friends from work, the bar, knitting circles, whatever.  The married couple will persist for years, but spend as little time as possible together.   This is called 'division of labor.'  Love probably doesn't exist.
