How are my knuckles bruised?

A friend and I were fighting.(Just playing around). I was holding his arm and he punched my hand. When I didn't let go he continued to hit it untill I finally let go. My hand was swollen and bruised the next day however 3 days later all four of my knuckles are bruised. Which they themselves were never hit. My hand is only slighlty swollen and bruised now. How does my knuckles get bruised. I'm so confused.

You have to remember what bruises are, tiny blood vessels beneath the skin that are broken and damaged and thus cause bleeding beneath the skin.  Blood is liquid, liquid flows and can potentially pool in a number of places.  So your hand may have gotten hit nowhere near your knuckles but certainly the blood could have pooled there form the trauma.
