Question:

How are my times- 8th grade Boy?

Here are my times so far this year:

55m Hurdles- 9.3

100m- 13.8

200m- 28.8

400m- 63.4

First year of track (don't have any younger years in my area) and although we have practice, it isn't on a track and we don't do very hard workouts..

How do my times stack up against others-

phys. specs: 5'5 120lbs

How can I improve my times (realistically)?

  1. Im a junior in track and your times aren't too bad for 8th grade. I might of been just a little bit faster than that. Your times will increase alot if by getting older and by lifting weights (squats and other leg exercises). We also do plyos which is just running and speed drills. But don't forget to stretch before to keep your muscles loose. My times this year were:

    Shuttle hurtle split- 16.2

    100m-11.5

    200m-23.72

    400m-55.8


  2. well lets see. those are pretty decent times for an 8th grader. those were bascially my times. the 400m time you have is pretty solid and room for a ot of improvement in the others as well as. to get better first get onto an actual track and see what you can do then actually start doing hard work outs and all that. get in the weight room as well that helps a whole lot. and if you dont wear spikes aready get some. cause from 8th grade i didnt wear any and ran a 13.0 second 100m then got to high school and ran a 11.8 with spikes on. so they do help signnificantly

    and btw im 5.'9'' so your height shouldnt effect you as long as you get some muscle

    just work hard and lift! thats basically it. thats what i do and it works my times so far this year are as followed:

    100m - 11.34

    200m - 22.58

    400m - 49.68

  3. Your times are average but you can improve them a lot more by training everyday. I'm in seventh grade and i run the 100m in 12.0 and the 200m in 27.89 but i also play soccer so i get conditioned easier. You can try sprinting a couple of 50m, then move up to 100m, 200m and so on to help you get a better faster time.
