How are people selling new books on Amazon Marketplace for absurdly low amounts like $2.00?

I'm talking about books that Amazon itself is selling for $50-$150. It would make sense if the sellers are selling used books because they just want to get rid of it but how can this be possible for new books? I was thinking about buying one but the price seems too good to be true.

They have to be used.  The wholesale cost of the book is $6.  

My friend could not get a publisher for her book.  She found a printer who would print her book but she had to order and pay for 2,000 copies.  She had a retail price of $11 but she had boxes and boxes that she was unable to sell at book fairs.  She is one of the people who could have sold at $2 just to empty her garage of boxes. /
