How are politicians making an effort to stop global warming?

It seems like it's getting worse, but scientists keep saying different things. Do you think many world leaders will do what they have to do before the world possibly ends?

Global warming is getting worse. Scientists who say differently are rarely scientists at all (they spout off lies and hide behind a Doctorate given to them in an Arts field).

They generally don't make an effort. They rely on the oil lobby too heavily to get re-elected (8.6 million dollars was contributed to congress men and women in 2006 alone). Politicians are growing more aware of the issue, however. Recently a bipartisan bill (Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008) made it out of committee and on to the Senate floor. Even though the bill was not passed (it was actually filibustered), this shows... sadly... progress in American politics.

Furthermore, while the current president is interested in oil companies and not finding alternative fuels sources, both candidates for the 2008 have plans to research new methods.

Currently research in universities is helping the most. Professor Weimer up at the University of Colorado at Boulder is working to devise a clean source of energy  (http://www.colorado.edu/news/r/b2c793926...

In countries like Norway, politicians have gone to enormous lengths to halt the  effects of global warming. Norway itself has passed legislation that requires the entire nation to be carbon neutral by 2050.

Global warming is a serious issue. Those who say otherwise either have greed-driven motives or are ignorant. There will come a time when the effects worsen to a point where politicians must come to terms with them. Hopefully, it won't be too bad. Until then, write to them expressing your concern, do what you can to minimize your impact, ride a bike to work... whatever =]

Stop it???  They rewrote the laws to allow it to happen!!  They took bribe/lobby/campaign contributions to make this mess!  All the pollution, high gas prices, wasted money they've poured right out of pockets into foreigners pockets, high utility bills, you name it they rewrote the laws for lousy filthy money!!

We've hired arsonists to be our firemen!!  They got paid to burn the house down with us inside. When someone thinks they smell smoke and complains.  These a$$etholes start yelling; "Don't worry we're on the job!  We have everything under control!  It's going to be fine you have no need to worry!"

We were 50% of the world economy and we've been sliding ever since the bribe/lobby/campaign contribution money went ballistic.  They knew what they were doing was wrong and they did it anyway!  They even voted themselves raises for s******g us so hard for so long.  

They've, D's and R's, have been doing this to us for 50 years!!  How long is too long?  How much is too much?  My a$$ is so sore now!!  Our once great nation is circling the drain.

I know everything has to end sometime!  But is this the way we want go out being remembered?  America the land of the spineless little weenie idiots the D's and R's F'd to death laughing all the way to the bank!!!!

These a$$etholes need to be tried, convicted, tarred and feathered, jailed with Bubba the 450lb f*g to be his biiitch!, their assets seized, and sold to pay back what can be done!!

Its still up for debate if we contribute a significant amount to global warming. Earth has gone through periodic ice ages over its life time, so it will cool down before it gets dangerously hot, and the evidence that we do contribute to gw is rather weak as the facts are formated as if it was comparing it to another earth next to us. In the 80's they thought pollution was creating a global cooling, overall their isn't unity in the science department and since this has become popular media, you have less than intelligent people throwing in their facts when they should just let the scientists work this out, and to get real info will take time.

The 'Global Warming' theory is currently having problems in that the predictions made by the theory have failed.

Because its predictions have been wrong - then there is mounting doubt of any of its other predictions are accurate either.
