I read the book The Other Boleyn Girl and it was amazing. So was the movie. I understand most everything dealing with the Tudor family, but considering queen Elizabeth 1 never had children how are her and the current royal family connected? is it by blood?

  1. The Elizabeth's are related but not directly.  Both Elizabeth I and II are descendants of Henry VII: Elizabeth I through her Henry VIII, and Elizabeth II through Henry VIII's sister Mary, who married into the Scottish royal family and have birth to Mary Queen of Scots, who in tern gave birth to James VI of Scotland, who also became James I of England on Elizabeth I's death.

  2. Yes, but throught Hanry VII, Henry VIII's father. Elizabeth II is a direct descendent of Henry VII through his daughter, who married the king of Scotland. Elizabeth I will therefore be a many times-great aunt of Elizabeth II.

  3. Yes, they are very distant, distant distant relatives. King James I of England (James IV of Scotland) was the son of Mary of Scot, who was the granddaughter of Princess Margaret, Elizabeth I's elder aunt. Queen Elizabeth II is a descendant of King James I of England (James IV of Scotland) through his eldest daughter, Princess Elizabeth Stuart, whose youngest daughter was Electress Sophia of Hanover, who married a German Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Their son, George eventually inherited the crown of England, Scotland and Ireland as George I of Great Britain. He was the great-great-great...grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II.

Note: The Other Boleyn Girl is truly an amazing piece of work! The movie was excellent too!
