  1. Race=genes, phenotype

    Race=Asian, Caucasian, Black, Hispanic

    Ethnicity=culture, background, tribal

    Ethnicity=Kurds, Turks, etc.

  2. The way it's been told to me is that race refers simply to where your ancestors came from; Africa, Europe, Asia, etc. It's a broad term. Ethnicity, however, is a much more specific term that describes where exactly you're from, your culture, etc.

    So, although someone from Zimbabwe and a black person from Washington, D.C. are of the same race, they would not be of the same ethnicity. The person from Zimbabwe could be a member of the Shona ethnic group (the major ethnic group of Zimbabwe), while the person from D.C. is ethnically African-American.

  3. The term race refers to the concept of dividing people into populations or groups on the basis of various sets of characteristics.[1] The most widely used human racial categories are based on visible traits (especially skin tone, cranial or facial features and hair texture), and self-identification.

    An ethnic group or ethnicity is a group of human beings whose members identify with each other, usually on the basis of a presumed common genealogy or ancestry.

    Race is a broader classification of ethnicities.  For instance, the Asian race includes Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese etc. ethnicity.

  4. There is only one race...the Tour de France.  Ethnicity is linked to culture and phenotypes.  Good luck.

  5. race is like black, white, etc.

    ethnicity is like from where your ancestors originated.
