  1. That all depends on the type of game you are playing. Whether it be stroke, skins, etc.

A couple of different ways to keep score is to 1) simply add up the total strokes for each hole to get your total. And 2) is to record -1 for birdie a / for par and +1 bogey, +2 double bogey and so on. Then you have to add/subtract the numbers to find out how many over or under par you are.

Other things you can record and keep track of is how many fairways did you hit and then figure out your percentage of fairways. Greens in regulation (GIR) is another. And number of putts per hole. These are good indicators besides score that will tell you whether or not you are improving.

  2. I think you are talking about quota points.  You get 6 points for a birdie, 4 fort a par, 2 for a bogey, and 1 for a double bogey.  If your playing in a group, you add up your points, and the person with the most points wins after 9 or 18 holes.  If your honest, you may not even need a score card for this type of match.  I hope this helped.

  3. One a scorecard. Each player should keep their score on their scorecard, or a single scorecard can be used to record each player's score.
