How are ships launched into the water after being built?

In early ships such as RMS Titanic the stern or the back of the vessel is the first to slide in the water, the front last. Today, it is either used in launching ships last one hundred years or today's style. Today's ship launching style is the bow or the front of the ship is the first to glide, the stern last.

Depending on the size and the ship yard where the vessel is built would determine the method of launch.
