  1. The board is designed with a certain shape that determines its sidecut and camber - this design is used to set up the machines that cut the materials into the correct shapes.

It is made by taking pieces of wood, fiberglass, and sometimes carbon fiber or other composites - laminatiing them together with fiberglass resin into several layers to create the core. The core, edges and binding inserts are then laminated together under pressure and then the top sheet and base are laminated to the core.

    Good Luck

  2. What a joke that how it's made episode was!

They didn't even mention issues such as SIDECUT, camber, etc.  They didn't even mention or show the steel edge!

Check out the recent issue of Future Snowboarding (with Austin Smith on the cover doing a big nose grab).  Mike Basich MAKES HIS OWN BOARD using organic materials only and tests it out.

  3. I saw snowboards on "how it's made" once on the discovery channel and i think it was actually at the burton factory. It's not too complicated. Basically a machine cuts pieces of wood and metal into the shape of a snowboard and then compresses them all together and holes are drilled for the bindings. Then like a million coats of laquer are put on it and then the little metal things for the bindings are screwed in and that's basically it.
