How are the SAT reading and math sections scored?

Exactly how do you convert the raw score into the final score that is given out of 800?

Only the Collegeboard knows the formula. They provide a conversion table when you order a copy of the question and answer for each test. I would guess that depending on the curve of all the raw scores on a given test, the scaled score can vary.
