How are the States in the U.S named?

as in, where did each states gets their names from?

A lot of states are named after Native American tribes (Utah, Illinois, Oklahoma, Indiana, Dakotas, etc...) Some of the Original 13 Colonies are named after British people/places (Carolinas, New York, New Hampshire, Georgia, Virginia). Other states from Spanish (New Mexico, California, Nevada.)

well i live in Indiana so obviously it got its name from all the indians that used to live here
