In the olympics, how is each person the perfect height for each event? Like the volleyball players are usually taller and the gymnasts are usually shorter. Swimmers usually have a longer arm span.

  1. i think its just their genetics and the way they grow

  2. Well, usually the person with the right body shape is the one to excel in the sport that their body shape is good for.

  3. It's called natural selection, or survival of the fittest if you may.  They don't become that way because of their sport, but the people who are that way are the ones at the top.  I'm sure if you go to your local gym or swimming pool, you will see short people playing volleyball and tall people in gymnastics.  Just that these people don't make it to the Olympics.

There are of course exceptions to the rule, like Spud Webb.  He's an NBA player who's only 5'7".  But you have to have talent out the ying yang to pull that off.

  4. its not that they are ther perfect height for each event. its just their body type (of course along with countless hours of practice and dedication to their craft) allows them to excel in the sport that they do. its hard to explain. you are looking at things backwards though.

  5. they're born  that way and you don't have to be specific hieght if you're good
